The event takes place at The Gator Club (1490 Main St, Sarasota, FL 34236). This iconic venue is housed in the historic "Worth's Block" building, a red-brick landmark constructed in 1912. Dancing in this space offers a distinct "speakeasy" vibe, combining Sarasota's rich history with the vibrant sounds of modern Latin music.

Event Highlights

Free Entry & Supporting the Bar: There is no cover charge to attend, making the night accessible to everyone from curious beginners to seasoned dancers. While admission is free, supporting the venue by buying a beer (from $5 + tip) or another drink at the bar is encouraged. Beverage sales are how the venue generates revenue to pay the DJ (yes, good DJs are not free these days), so grabbing a drink helps keep these community nights alive.

Historic Hardwood Floor: The Gator Club features authentic hardwood flooring installed over half a century ago. Because of its age and vintage character, the wood shows natural signs of wear, including a few small holes - keep an eye out for them if you are dancing in high pointed heels. The floor is intimate, comfortably accommodating about 12 couples dancing at the same time. If you want to make sure you get plenty of dances in before the space gets packed, plan to arrive on the earlier side.

Historic Atmosphere: The Gator Club is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Dancers enjoy the classic brick walls, large windows overlooking Main Street, and the upscale historic bar that the venue is famous for.
